I agree with the listed MPG from Dodge's website.  I have a R/T AWD and have had it since August.  I work 5 miles from my house, in the city.  I get about 15/16 MPG and when I drive about 45 miles to see my gf I get about 25/26 MPG.  And I drive normal (gunn it on occassion but usually stay within 5 over the speed limit.)  And what most need to realize that compared to other competitors that's about normal for an AWD bigger V6 engine.  The 2008 EPA standards changed from 2007 for the first time in years so MPG for the Avenger are going to look more accurate than other 2007s.

What's also great about the new EPA ratings is that if you drive really conservatively you can beat the EPA ratings.  With the 2.4L going 55mph you can get 34-36mpg easy!

not really an option here:

1l unleaded is over $2 ~ $7,50 a gallon.

diesel is the way to go.

Not available in the U.S.....as usual.

I have the 2.7 flex fuel V6. I broke it in driving to Texas (from Michigan) last November to see my son graduate from USAF basic training. The best I got running unleaded regular was just under 33 mpg. The average was around 32 highway and 24 city. I'm running corn juice (E85) right now and expect around 24 mpg city/highway.

As a side note; I traded my Caliber in on the Avenger. It had a little over 7000 miles on it and the best I got with the 2.0 was 32 mpg on the highway. The way I see it, I got more room, a quieter car, and flexibility in fuel selection with no loss of mpg.

The Caliber had a better paint job though......

I think i have issues.. I have been trying to make a conscious effort to see what the best mileage I could get would be .. but I just cant help speeding and making jackrabbit starts.. I had it up to 19 MPG but I couldn't take it anymore.. The drivers in New York (Im on Long Island though) make me crazy and piss me off all the time so i cant control myself and just gun it and fly past them all the time because a lot of them drive like they have been shot in the head with a nail gun multiple times..

Now I know why I still have my 98 Avenger. I get 30MPG in local traffic and 34-36 on the highway. My moms 07 Ram gets better milage than you guys are reporting from the R/T and her Ram has the 4.7. I was going to ask what everybody thinks of their new Avenger cause I was thinking I might be in the market for oine soon.

My R/T AWD gets 20 MPG and that includes jackrabbit starts.  My average MPH is 35 since most of the roads I travel on are 35-40.  When I travel highway, I get around 25.  I dont have the add on computer so my milage is calculated the old way.

I've only had my car now for about 800 miles but so far the mpg has been poor...at least on the highway.  I typically get the 15/16 mpg in the city but I was expecting to get approximatley 25mpg when going 55 mph.  Well, I'm getting about 20 mpg (at best) at 55mph and that is really bad.  My overall average is low to mid 17 mpg's, quite a drop from my previous 200 hp '98 Grand Prix GT where my overall average was 23 mpg.  Hopefully the Avenger's mpg will improve a bit after driving it for a few thousand miles.

So according to this, a much larger, higher hp/torque Charger SXT gets better gas mileage than an Avenger R/T?
