We treated ourselves to a new Avenger SXT with the 2.7 V6 in bright silver metallic for Christmas and so far we really like it, we'll post a picture when the weather gets nice enough to take a few. Our car has the MyGig radio without the navigation system, one question we have is about the front dash speakers. We are pleased with the bass and midrange sound quality we just wish the highs were a little stronger. We are thinking about a set of aftermarket speakers just for the dash. Does anyone happen to know the size of them and do the factory speaker grills just pop off from the top?

Congratulations on the new car! You'll enjoy it. I agree with you on the highs, I also would like to buy better ones, They're kind of flat sounding. The bass I have no complaints with. I also have to find out whether they're 2.5's,3's or 4's what ever. If I find out sooner than someone else here on the size I'll post it. By the way welcome and have a happy New Year.

Crutchfield.com seems have you pick out what stereo you have and then they show you the speakers or whatever. Most say small sizes, So I don't know if they know what their taking about. They have 1" one's. I haven't had time to look at mine yet to see, Maybe they are really small.

speakers that will fit the avengers are as follows
door and rear
6 1/2 , 6x9, or 5 1/4 depending on the brand
and for the dash tweeters the size is 1" to 1/2" depending on the brand
Excellent! Thank you. I've been at Crotchfield's looking at some Polk tweeters. I wonder where the crossover box is? Or do I have one? I must right, So the tweeters don't recieve the bass frequencies, etc. If I don't THEN you would proably buy the tweeters with the crossovers right? Thanks again.

Thank you Sue and Cip for the info and the help, we didn't think about checking out Crutchfield. We think we're going to run up to the local sound guys also and see what they think. We'll be sure to forward the info we get. Hope everyone has a safe, happy, and healthy New Years.

Sue, As far as crossovers are concerned, Chances are you have an inline filter going to the tweeters and no filter going to the door and rear speakers. The filter will look like a capacitor with a singlewire coming out both ends soldered inline between the speaker and the + wire. Its a lot cheaper for car manufacturers to use them instead of an active crossover box which I have almost never seen installed in a factory stereo installation unless it was intigrated into an amplifier. Most aftermarket tweeters come with them to ensure you dont blowthetweeter (Its in the manufacturer's best interests to include them so they wont get a lot of returns) Some are built into the tweeter enclosure.. but unfortunately not all of them come with filters.Worst case scnereo you can use the existing filter but there is a chance that Dodge put in a tight range restrictive filter that does not allow the existing or newtweeter to shine.
If youre going tobuy tweeters you may want to consider a matched speaker system to fill out your sound a little better.. obviously its not required especially since you guys seem to be satisfied with the rest of the sound range of the current speakers..
You also may want to consider a small 4 channel amplifier which should add more punch to the whole sound spectrum but adding an amp will add a bit of complexity to the install since you will need a line input converter, Power, RCA, and remote wires.
