Default 2006 Out of State Emissions

I'm considering buying an out of state dakota. It's a 2006 2wd with 4.7 engine. Does anybody know if this vehicle has50 state legal emissions for California? Are they all shipped from the factory with full emissions or does California alone require all the SMOG equipment?

Thanks for any information.

I bought my 05 while i lived in chicago. I moved back to cali last febuaruy. mine does not have ANY of the cali smog ****. But the thing i have, is my mom still has an address out there... so i left it registered out there... Hell 78 bucks in Illionis VS 23486734789349673 in cali... Only problem i think ima run into is when they want to test it... but i will cross that bridge when it comes.

But it all comes down to were your registering it to.. I think you can buy it out of state, but still have to pay the state you buying it in reg and the state your taking it to... not sure excatly but someone is bound to know.

If the truck is not changed, like no exhaust or intake done it will be california legal. I've researched legality in california and as long as there's a muffler and stock intake on the vehicle you're legal. Some aftermarket intakes are illegal in california.

They all come from the factory with smog equipment but ppl who put the cat back system on them make them illegal in CA. And I think im not sure of this but if the truck is still under warrenty you can take it to the dealer and they can put all the smog equipment back on and charge it to the the person you bought it from. Again im not sure that that something my auto shop teacher told me.

California is such a bummer...you can't modify your car at all without making it Illegal... I mean here ya it has to be under 95 Decibles which I'm well over that...but it doesn't fail you for emmissions...my best bet buddy would be to keep the car registered outa state...like seriously if you have a buddy that you know and he lives outa CA then have it registered at His house so that way California Cops can't gie you no ****!!! Thats what I did with my 96...I registered it in a Different county so I don't have to get Emmissions done to it and they can't get me for illegal exhaust! There is always a loop hole!

There is a county in CA that doen't require emissions but its all the way up by oregan and the pop is like 3 ppl. So what you do is by 1/2 acre of land there and throw a mail box down on it.

I thought as long as the aftermarket parts had a CARB number they were legal in california.
