Thanks for the reply Futil, I'll give it a shot.  And thank you also by the way for your service!  Your website and knowledge about the mygig is invaluable and appreciated!

Futil:

Thanks for the feedback.  Well  I decided to bite the bullet and put 9.799 on this morning.  Busy all day yesterday, so the car stayed in the garage all day.  Downloaded the patch, burned it to a CD, walked out to the car, turned on the radio and the darn thing was working like nothing was wrong.  Good thing I don't drink!

Thanks for the help.  For right now I will leave everything the way it is, if it burps again I will load the patch and reinstall 9.713 and 8.81 of the gracenotes database.

I enjoy the website as it is full of great information.  Keep up the good work and best of luck on the new computer equipment.

Gary

Cool, Glad everything worked out.. I think after doing the 9.713 install it even said in the instructions to pull the fuse and reset the radio.. I'll have to go through it again and confirm as that might solve a lot of these quirky issues that everyone has been having after install..

Oh, I almost forgot..  I received the package today that contains ALL of the Software and Gracenote updates for the rest of the MyGIG models.. I am currently in the process of zipping them and uploading them to the server.. I should have them up later today or tonight as I have to go to an appointment tonight at 6 so I wont be able to work through the day getting them posted.. So soon the entire world can update their Gracenotes and Software..

I am REALLY close to finishing the trouble ticket support page.. Had to rewrite most of the code just to make it integrate into the web site better.. The forums are also close to completion..

The computer hardware took a little longer than expected as this was the first Intel/PC motherboard that I installed that does not have a PS2 Keyboard or mouse ports.. So when I turned the computer on the preinstalled OS didn't recognize/install the drivers for the USB ports.. So I was without a keyboard and mouse and the device install kept hanging on asking for a CD for the sound card.. So I had to do a hard reboot every time that came up and fortunately it installs drivers randomly and didn't get stuck on the sound card on every reboot.. about 5 reboots were needed before it finally found the USB root hub and then installed the KB  and mouse.. I really didn't want to reinstall the whole OS so I was flipping out until the KB and mouse were back..

Thank you all for your support, I really appreciate it.. Who would have thought that a car radio and it's issues would generate this much attention?

Hi futil,

Updated MyGIG tonight with the REW update, seems to have worked perfectly, system is much quicker to startup and more responsive, and as a bonus it has enabled the uconnect functionality that i didn't have before, excellent, just need a microphone now and all systems are go.

Will be doing the Gracenote update over the weekend, will let you know how that goes.

One thing i have noticed is that the dimmed VES button has gone, presumably it's not displayed now if the feature isn't fitted?

Thanks for the site and the updates, keep up the good work.

Barry.

Anyone having strange pairing issues after the update? My phone works fine after the update, however, after a day it loses the name I assign to the phone and goes back to the default phone name. Not sure why it would lose that, unless it's that HD corruption issue, but I thought those issues were more severe than this.

Good question, I know it supports mp3s, but I burnt a mp3 disc with windows and it wouldn't read it, is that a known issue? If it can play mp3s etc can you do that with a dvd? Bah I'm going to go answer my own question and edit this :/

Actually there is a pattern emerging with certain phones being able to work after the update but other phones that used to work are failing either with the pairing procedure or shortly after.

Harman Becker is aware of this and I believe they will be addressing it soon.

If you have a phone that used to work with the previous software version but now does not work try 2 things, first reinstall the software and see if that helps, then if that fails you will have to downgrade to a previous version where your phone worked.

Also, To everyone that has been writing to Harman Becker at mygig@harmanbecker.com and has not received a reply.. That is because HB had to shut down the email address. Chrysler does not want anyone talking to customers except for dealers.
Which is kind of scary because that just leaves Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep forums and my site as an Internet source for direct answers for people that can address these issues themselves.
I just wanted to let everyone know what the deal is with the non answered emails and I didn't want everyone to rag on Harman Becker for not providing support when their hands were tied in this situation.. Especially when the employees at HB were busting their asses trying to help everyone when they shouldn't have been in the first place. I mean it takes a lot of commitment to field tech calls and go the extra mile when the customer (Chrysler) doesn't want them to provide assistance in the first place.

While I don't have a lot of time lately to field tech emails, I have 2 other techs that have extensive knowledge with MyGIG radios that have been given access to the trouble ticket software I have under the "Contact" link at the web site.. So all techs receive a copy of your email and whoever has the knowledge to assist the best can accept the ticket and field the tech email while keeping everyone else in the loop. Any issues that are reoccurring or information gained from a tech question email that others can benefit from will be posted in the FAQ section to help others with the same issue.. (No personal info and we do not copy the email for use in the FAQ section)

For anyone that had VES, Installed the software update then lost the VES button, Go into the Engineering Menu of the MyGIG by pressing the 3 Hard Keys: SEEK UP - SEEK DOWN - MENU all at the same time.. Then you can re-enable VES in there.. I have never done this myself so I don't have extended info on which menu buttons to press to enable VES after you are in the Engineering Menu but it's in there and that is how to get the VES button back.

Oh, and if you play with the calibrate touch screen menu.. then screw the radio up where you can't use the touch screen.. You can use the Engineering menu to reset your radio to its factory defaults to get your touch screen back :)

I had the issue of phone not pairing, that worked fine before.

I couldn't get the two to pair at all!  The process would start and seemed to complete on the phone, but always failed on the MyGig.  The solution I found was to do the pair the normal way, it would succede on the phone and fail on the MyGig...then I did it a second time, but did NOT delete the existing pair on the phone , and this worked!!!

What I did notice was the my exisitng pair(prior to upgrade ) did not work...When I deleted the pair, it didn't seem to completly delete the pair, as my custom phone name was still there AFTER I deleted the paired phone, and re-paired!

So, the process of adding the pair twice did seem to work.  My phone is the Cingular 3125 aka StarTrek......

I also noticed the process seems different if the radio is turned off, or on...

Hey Futil, I was wondering if you would be able to talk to steve about my problem with my Sprint Mogul not working on the mygig, I already tried emailing them but no replies, and this is a serious issue, incase you dont remember the issue I will list it again, I would appreciate if you can communicate with him about my issue, I know Im not the only one but i just cant stand the inability of this bluetooth issue.

problem:

Phone pairs fine with Mygig,
but when trying to make a phone call there is no tone through the speakers, and once the line is picked up I cannot hear the caller and the caller cant hear me, dead silent on both ends.
Happens aswell when receiving a call, dead silence on both ends, already paired and unpaired my phone many times and nothing works at all, uconnect is useless with the sprint mogul, other phones work but just my phone and the mygig seem to be uncompatible, and its not just me its, other people with the similar phone has same issues, I just want to find out if harman becker is working with sprint or working on something to fix this problem.

Hi Fastrat350,

If you upgraded your software and the problem started happening then it's because when HB made the changes to the bluetooth stack to accommodate new phones they screwed up the bluetooth for other phones.

If you didn't upgrade then try upgrading to 9.713. If you already upgraded to 9.713 try reinstalling again.

If the phone still doesn't work and it used to work before then your only current option is to downgrade to your previous option.

Steve and HB are aware of the issue and are working on fixing it. They said that they are considering releasing a list of phones that are currently incompatible with the latest software but are currently aware of the issue and are working on a fix that will be released in a future software release. I restated the above options to fix the issue because as of now they are your only options until new software is released.

By the way, Any high priority MyGIG tech questions should be posted at the support contact at http://mofv.com/mygig/Issues/ or just click on the Contact link in the main menu of the web site.
Who answers your question is up to the technical staff and who feels that they can answer your question the best, However there are a few MyGIG experts there that can help answer questions that I don't know. Ex HB employees, Chrysler Engineers, and other unnamed people have access to that system.. You may be surprised who you have reviewing your questions on the other end. When you send an e-mail using that system it is sent to all of the technical support members so we all can go over the issue and handle it together. Obviously a Chrysler employee would like to remain anonymous so I have the system set up to allow them to be anonymous yet still help. I am still waiting for a number of members to commit to the offer, however if enough people are active we should have a very solid support portal.

I am amazed how many people out there are this dedicated to helping others where they are willing to risk their jobs to get a car radio working correctly.. Well then again I am one of them.. but I still don't know exactly why I am doing all this either. I suppose it's just nice to feel useful to someone other than yourself.

I don't want to deduct from this forum either as there are a LOT of smart and knowledgeable people here that can help as well.. So keep posting here.. but something that requires high level support that only someone with inside knowledge would have then I would recommend checking out the support system.

Everyone having phone issues on this page, I specifically sent in your issues to directly to Steve to be analyzed.

Anyone else having phone issues after installing the latest software please place a trouble ticket here: http://mofv.com/mygig/Issues/ so we can build a better profile of how many different phones are affected. Also if you did not include your phone make and model please post it here or in the trouble ticket system.

I experienced a strange issue.  I have a contact in the address book for my brother, it worked great before.  Here's the funny part, after the upgrade the confirmation prompt before placing the call doesn't say my brothers first name, it spells it.

So instead of Rob  the phone says Call R O B Smith mobile....Meaning it spells the first name, and says the last name.  I looked up the entry and both the first name and last name were in Capital letters. When I selected play voice tag, it worked as expected from this menu.

I edited the entry and made the "Rob" first letter cap the rest lower case.  This worked correctly on confirmation prompts!
