RE: 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel - 12/27/2007 2:59:26 PM    HammerZ71 DodgeForum Moderator Posts: 3123 Joined: 7/7/2007 Status: offline No, I have an '02 Overland with the 4.7 H.O.  But I know a couple that are winter members at the golf resort where I'm assistant pro and they bought one over the summer, a 4x4 limited with the 3.0 CRD and drove it from there summer home in Ontario to here in central Fl. and love it.  The guy can't get into a single conversation at the golf course that he doesn't change it to that Jeep.  He claims about 21 mpg everyday driving while in Canada and 26 mpg on the trip down here.  _____________________________ '04 QC Hemi 4x4 '02 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4x4 '06 Can Am Outlander 4x4 No "Pavement Queen" here! It had great pep...ran hard...was really quiet. On my test drive I didn't have my sales guy but his manager. I think I scared him just a little; don't think he expected a female to be willing to step on it that way .   One of the service managers had been driving it and said he was getting 20+ MPG.  I don't doubt it w/ the way that thing is set. It gets a better power than the Hemi (ok it is 1 foot pound of torque but still ). I wont lie I liked it better than the Hemi (ok so I also drive a CTD so I might be biased but). If they would but the diesel in any other package than the Overland I would have bought it.  I just could not stomach the extra on it when I really didn't need it. Found all the same as the Frog, we even liked all the options on th eOverland, but still couldn't stomach the 43k+ for a jeep. Especially when we paid 32k for our Ram. So now we have the 3.7 v6 and we pretty much dig it. I personally thought it was a bad idea when they came out with it on the Liberty.  I guess I'll just have to take better care of my '02 Overland to make it last if that's the case. RE: 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel - 1/29/2008 11:59:05 AM    timesublime Posts: 258 Joined: 12/15/2005 Status: offline So far 303 miles computer says 22.3 mpg average, still have a little under 1/2 a tank left.  I saw up to 30 on a flat stretch going 60, so we'll see how it goes with the break-in period.  I notice that it really revs up compared to the 6.7, almost like an older 5.7 TBI chevy, good until ~4000rpm.  Almost no noise in the cab, only a small amount of the diesel clatter off idle.
