Six Thousand miles so far - 12/20/2007 7:55:31 AM    Cip   Posts: 47 Joined: 6/1/2007 Status: offline Well Here is and Update on my 2008 Dodge Avenger SXT Sport 2.7L only 6000 miles on it Had to have the door latches changed Had to have the door latch cables changed Had to have all 4 Speakers replaced do to them being installed wrong so all four blew the tweeters in the dash were fine though. when the volume was on about 3. I have kids in the car and well I don't blast the stereo but do enjoy good sound and yes I got the premium sound package.  (FYI the dealer told me that a lot of the 2008 Avengers have the speakers Bostons and Regular installed wrong and or defective so they orderd a shit load to cover people coming in. When I took my car in they had 4 ready for me) While having the speakers changed they broke the handle on the door so yet another trip back to the dealer.   Had to have the Clock fixed because it was keeping time wrong   Had to have the transmission software updated. I have not posted in so long because i have been back and forth to the dealer since I bought the car in June of 2007.  Thats Six times for problems well 8 trips if you want to include the two oil changes I had done. Don't get me wrong I like the car but you get what you pay for when it comes to these cars I have been upset for months about all this shit. I really want to love this car and did for the first couple of months Dodge sure as hell does not make it easy though. I went to a dodge dealer and well fell in love with the dodge avenger. I know my comments are negative but come on it's not an isolated case. Everyone who buys one has to bring it back for these problems it seems. My point is this I bought the car with 4 miles on it and so far I have been to the dealer so much! and well if it had 80K on it I would not be complaining. How do they figure to keep people buying Dodge? I'm disgusted with the amount of people that have problems. If it's not the radio,It's the transmission. A person should not have to run back and forth to the dealer. Even some Toyota's are having big problems too and a few people swear by them. Even my paint on my car was crappy on certain parts,Come on who's checking for these things! RE: Six Thousand miles so far - 1/3/2008 8:06:33 PM    kel60   Posts: 4 Joined: 1/3/2008 Status: offline I'm trying to enjoy my 08 Avenger R/T AWD too and did for the first 2 weeks...then came the transmission problems....I'm told around 4000 miles these cars are needing a new computer program downloaded to try to fix it. But the sad part is that Dodge hasn't come up with the software yet and may be awhile.  Meantime I'm driving a car that sputters and hesitates and sometimes feels like the engine is going to quit on me.   I had the clips on the front doors replaced too but only because there was a recall on them and I had the car at the dealer already.  Really wasn't having problems with the clips though. I just had to take it back to have the muffler replaced, the rear passenger door adjusted because I could hear wind driving at 60 mph and the computer flashed for the idle becuase it had a rough idle to it... The vast majority of Avenger owners are happy. The few that arent naturally search for forums online and post their complaints, which is just fine. I got my SXT v6 Avenger last April 2007 and I've put on 5,500 miles (I dont drive to work), I've done the recalls and everything's been great. Get compliments all the time. It's fairly normal for a new model to have a rash of recalls in the first production year, if you didn't expect this while purchasing the avenger, well... I dunno what to tell you. RE: Six Thousand miles so far - 2/16/2008 7:26:16 PM    hckygoalie31   Posts: 15 Joined: 3/12/2007 Status: offline I haven't been here for a while either...I was one of the first to get the Avenger.  I got it back in February last year...right off the truck.  Love the car, hate the issues. I've had mine in the shop at least 10 times in the past 11 months.  First it was a recall (Door locks), then it was a cam sensor.  Then a crank sensor.  Then it was a wire that grounded against the throttle body.  Then it was recall number 2 (Reprogram).  Then it was recall #3 (Door lock cables).  Now supposedly there's a TSB on a fuel filter and sensor that makes your car's Check Engine light come on almost every time it hits a half tank of gas. What ticks me off is the dealership told me to leave the car overnight so they could fix this latest problem....I get a call the next day saying that they don't have the parts to do it, come pick up your car....and I have a misfire in cylinder #4. RE: Six Thousand miles so far - 3/4/2008 7:37:57 PM    scavengergirl   Posts: 2 Joined: 8/6/2007 Status: offline My husband and I went out to eat tonight - as we were leaving - I was going to place the leftover's box in the backseat (Rear Passenger side) hit the unlock door button twice - unlocked all doors - grabbed the door handle and it stays in the open position but wont open the door.  My radio wont keep time - I've reset the thing at least 15 times over the past year- it is presently 50 minutes fast.  My fog light on the right side is dead - it wont turn on at all.  When I make a sharp left hand turn into my drive way - the car makes a sick scrubbing sound.  When they took care of the last recall - they had reset the computer in the car - I hope they dont try to blame it on the reset - cause the time was NEVER right.  I have a watch on my arm - but normally have always been able to use my cars clock to determine what time it is.  I certainly cant do that in this car.  I continue to have an arcing problem - I drive along and all of the sudden - it feels like the car is ready to take off on it's on - then that goes away - I seriously worry about taking it on any long trips.  This has been a problem since I first bought the car and they cant figure it out.  I am about to make the appt to take it back in for the last recall - I dread seeing what they have to say about my issues - I dont want them to sweep it under the rug - this 2008 Avenger is a beautiful car - I love the car itself - I just wish they'd have worked all the bugs out before they released this new model.  I went through H _ _ _ and back with the last dodge I bought - a 1993 Intrepid and it was Lemon of the Year - I dont want to start a family trend here.  Does anyone have anything to add to these issues?  Feel free to e-mail me at mrspriss9@hotmail.com and place 2008 Avenger in the subject line so I dont accidentally delete it thinkign it is junk mail.  (in reply to Cip) Post #: 11
