Hey guys, we all no how hard it is to do a static drop on a 93 and older 2wd. What I am curious about is using our special power as consumers to try to gain enough intrest to get a manufacturer to make some 2wd drop spindles. Does anyone have any friends in the buisiness, or a way to make ourselves heard?

I don't know if he has, Kev, but I know I have. There's nothin out there, if you want a drop it's almost gotta be bagged or fabricated. I can't even find the drop shackles and springs that other guys have used. Theres a dude that says he got his stuff from airbagit.com, but I've searched that site top to bottom and can't find anything.

Use 87-90 Dakota drop spindles they work with a minor mod to the tie rod hole. Just airbagit sell these and 2" drop springs for our trucks. I did this and also flipped the rear axle. Here is a pict I know the truck is rough but I am working on it.

That dude would be me and that is where I got them, but I have be'en on their site recently and you are right there is no list for anything,I would just call them to check to see if they still carry anything. There are springteck 2" drop shackles on ebay $29.00. truckinsuspension.com (also known as airbagit.com) has coils #coi-do7993-2 hangers #han-do7893 shackles #sha-do7893.

I can't find them on that site either, just control arms(for bags), and roll pans.

Thanks dude, I used their search methods before and they are completely useless. Somebody should let them know how many sales they're losing because of it.

Yes, I have completely searched the internet to the end. AIM has the closest thing to front drops, but their page is basically useless. I have read about using dakota front spindles, but htat seems sketchy. I say this because you have to ream out the tie-rod holes, and the mounting points for the tie-rods are further away from the center line of the spindle. This messes up angles in the steering arms, as well as decreases the number of turns to go from left to right. What I am wondering about is if anyone has a connection with a manufacturer to try to convince someone to make a limited run product. I realize that they would be expensive, but seeing as how ram spindles are so close to dak spindles, it is far from impossible. Spread the word.

I am also VERY interested in drop spindle's for my '81 D150. How far off are the Dakota spindles? Are there any other spindles that can be used with minor mods? You can get spindles made to your specs at some race suppliers, http://www.stockcarproducts.com/susp18.htm for instance.

Do they make spindles for road vehicles too, or just for race suspension?

Race parts are usually stronger and lighter than road parts, theres no reason you couldn't use them. You might have to mount your own disc brake brackets, I know GM brackets are available. I have not contacted them about building Dodge spindles, but when I'm ready, if another solution has not been found, I will. We'll need to know all the dimensions and specs to do it. I don't know how much GM spindles are different from Dodge. I still would like to know how much different the Dakota spindles are. There are ways to "adjust" the steering for spindle differences. Racers use a variety of parts to make everything work, for instance Pinto spindles are very popular with Granada rotors, and GM control arms and steering. So a spindle thats close will work.

Everything I looked at at truckinsuspension has a year label with it. Different items for different years, so I would say yes, just make sure you order the right part. Basically, the part number tells you what year it fits.... Like the hangers for example (han do7893) han= hangers, do= dodge 7893= 1978-1993 I looked at hangers, shackels, springs, a rollpan, and dakota spindles for a total of $575.... Nearly what I paid for the truck!! :) But hey, I got a good deal. I understand that there needs to be a tie rod modificatiuon on the 97-90 dakot a drop spindles, but I have yet to gather more information. I wonder if you could get dakota tie rod ends and use them on the D150 rack so no mods were necessary.
