I don't understand the whole "1st gen is the strongest/beefiest". The transmissions were junk, the rear ends aren't as tough as the 3rd gens' 9 1/4". It isn't a full box frame like the 3rd gen.... Anyway, I like the 2nd gen the best even though I have a 3rd. I needed the 3rd gen for the better towing cap, so I opted for one.
