How old is the clutch??
You have checked your fluid? It should be close to the brake resivoir. There may be an adjustment on the clutch cable, but I am not sure, I will have to check the manual. Check around the clutch resivoir for leaking, your slave cylinder may be going bad. I have also heard on the hydralic clutch lined weakening (because they are rubber) and swelling when you engage the clutch. Those are a couple of things off of the top of my head, but I will consult the manual when I have time.

From what you said, it sounds like the clutch is out of adjustment (by not releasing fully) that leads me to believe that it is a fluid and or cable problem. I'll check the manual and see what it says.

*edit: I did a quick check in the manual and the only adjustments can be made under the dash at the clutch pedal assembly. There should be a threaded nut that adjusts the pedal play. Check your fluid level and for leaks. There isn't a whole lot more to the system. Let me know what you find out.

thanks for the input I'll look at it tomarrow and let you know whats up. I tried to drive it again and i got about 100 feet and said forget it. when I push the clutch all of the way down to the floor the engine doesn't even know that the clutch is in so now there is no way for me to even get it into gear. tomarrow is my day off so i'll let you know what I find.
I also checked the fluid and it was full. is it the one with the white cap that has about a 2.5 inch diameter?

Something is not allowing your clutch to be released when you press it. Pressure plate maybe, or the slave cylinder is bad. Yes, the clutch resivoir should be the smaller of the two on the drivers side of the the compartment.

there was some built up film inside the canister but i cleaned it and still dont know whats up. do you think I should replace the clutch or what. what clutch would you reccomend thats good for every day use but also good for extreme racing now and again.
might it be the master cylander or would that have nothing to do with it? I tried taking it out but dont know how in the hell they put that thing in. so any way its all back together and the clutch still sticks to the floor and wont pop back up like its suposed to. so what do you think

Your clutch is not returning to the "up" position???? That is a new problem that you failed to mention... There should be a "return spring" under the dash at the clutch pedal assembly. That is what returns the clutch to the "up" position. The clutch cylider should be next to or under the the brake master cylinder.

*note: my car is an automatic, so I do no have first hand experience working on clutches on these cars. Other vehicles yes, but not on Stealths. The info. I am passing along is from the manual or applied knowledge from other vehicles.

Stealth/3kgt parts suppliers
3sx
Dynamic Racing

If your car is basically stock, an OEM clutch will suffice. If your return spring was/is broke, it could have caused your clutch to wear prematurely

i have a factory manual if you want i can send one to your email or something. is the return spring an actual spring by itself or is it a little setup of its own to and they just call it a spring. so do you think that i would now have to replace the clutch itself or what. how fast would it make the clutch go bad because from the time i felt a difference in the clutch till the time that it was no longer driveable was like 5 days. would you suggest it easy enough to order the part and do it myself?? any tips for the job. when I get it fixed I'll post some pics of it, you may have already seen some on other sites that look like it but I take great pride in my stealth. i appriciate all of the help you are giving me also.

Do you have the big brown "Dodge Mechanic Manual"??? If so, check page 6-8, (that is where it is in my manual). It appears just to be a spring. It has a hook on one end and an adjustment screw on the other I have never taken a clutch from one of these cars...so I hate to give advice on the proper way to pull it???

there is no pulling involved there is just simply not one there, i see the one for the brake though. but when looking for a clutch would the 3000gt same year clutch be the same thing or not. im thinking about just upgrading it since im going to have to take it appart any way with a stage 4 clutch master kit.

I have a 93' stealth base model. several weeks after I bought it and I'm in the same boat as you dude. I found fluttering the pedal at the top allowed me to shift into gear and at least make it back from work. I took out the master cylinder, got a new one but havn't put it in because I can't find a difference in the operation. plugging the hole and pumping the piston I got good resistance and pressure. just today I removed what I'm 99% sure is the slave cylinder, but it also appears to have good resistance and seal. my cylinder was full when I first noticed the prob' and the next day was empty after I pumped the clutch around town. I found no signs of leakage. if you have found anything to help please, PLEASE help.

Sounds like a bad master or clutch to me. More information about the problem would help a little.

I have a similar problem and i plan to bleed the slave cylinder first and see if that helps and if it doesnt i will replace it. Because my clutch pulls great but only the last part of the pedal play gives me the in and out of the clutch which kills my leg and foot reachign all the way down there...

My 91 ES just started doing something similar. Every once in a while the clutch pedal seems to stick down, not fully dis-engaging. I put my foot under it and popped it back up and it seems to work OK for a while. It seems to occur after driving for 15 minutes or more. The clutch fluid level looks OK and I doubt the clutch is going due to the intermittant symptoms. What did you guys find?

I did the clutch pedal freeplay adjustment and it works great now. Took a bit to figure out since im still waiting on my manual to make it through the mail. Its EASY though once ya figure out whats going on and how to adjust it. IT made all the difference in the world on my clutch leg. Though that is STILL the stiffest clutch i have EVER used.

I finally found my clutch slave cylinder is leaking allowing air into the end of the system. Apparently this prevented my clutch from fully disengaging causing the 'automatic tranny like' symptom and difficulty getting into gear. It also helps to pull the cap off of the clutch master cylinder to check level instead of looking through the translucent housing (darn ring around the collar!).
