So it turns out that the fuel pump was not my problem. Nor was it anything to do with the distributor. The JET Stage 2 module I had installed over a year ago suddenly failed. And it's taken my computer with it. I've contacted JET's customer service, and asked them to refund me for the module and replace my ECM as well.
It took two contact pins and the entire nut and bolt assembly with it. I installed it correctly with no issues, and it ran fine until this Monday, so I have a hunch that the failure caused enough heat to fatigue the plastic directly around the plug area. The bolt wouldn't unthread (it turned but wouldn't come out) and when I tried working it gently by hand it suddenly pulled right out.
It smells pretty rank too...

Exact same problems I had when I got mine. They are POS. It took out my pins for the injectors. At the time I sodered in wires at the pin locations and the computer worked fine. Now I have the mopar per. comp. so no more bad wire pins. The bolt nut broke out of the computer too. It would be nice if the do refund you. But Im sorry to say I belive your SOL.

wow...i would say take it to a dealer and have them fix whatever needs to be done and maybe try to get it in writing from a mechanic or something that the jet chip caused the failure and then send them the bill. if that doesnt work, threaten a lawsuit if it ends up costing you alot of money.

I can't see the pictures (damn Air Force blocking sites like photobucket); but 1995 and previous Dakota's used a single (60?) pin connector, where-as 1996+ Dakotas use 3-(32?) pin connectors.

Still no answer...they'd better not try and brush me off. Considering it looks like this thing damn near caught fire, I'm sure I could make somewhat of a ****fest for them. That's not just a failure, that's a safety issue.
