So it turns out that the fuel pump was not my problem. Nor was it anything to do with the distributor. The JET Stage 2 module I had installed over a year ago suddenly failed. And it's taken my computer with it. I've contacted JET's customer service, and asked them to refund me for the module and replace my ECM as well.

It took two contact pins and the entire nut and bolt assembly with it. I installed it correctly with no issues, and it ran fine until this Monday, so I have a hunch that the failure caused enough heat to fatigue the plastic directly around the plug area. The bolt wouldn't unthread (it turned but wouldn't come out) and when I tried working it gently by hand it suddenly pulled right out.

It smells pretty rank too...

these chips/modules can cause some serious problems.my friend had a superchip in his chevy and it caused all kinds of problems with the computer after years without trouble.

My nephew had a Jet chip in his Ram and the chip created higher EGT (exhaust gas temperature) and burnt out his catyltic converter.  He took it into shop class, cut the bottom off the cat, dumped the burnt guts out, then welded the bottom back on.  He's in the Army now, so let's hope he doesn't try to register his car in some state that requires a vehicle inspection or smog check.

It would be nice if there were a way to get info like this out to ALL automotive enthusiasts, eh? Wish I'd known before I wasted over $300 on that useless module (it didn't even make much of a difference, at least until it fried and took out my computer, that was definetely a difference).
