Default XM Antenna Mount

I'm getting XM satellite radio for christmas and i'm trying to think ahead and figure out how im gonna wire the antenna. I heard of some people running it thru the top of the third brake light or something like that and then onto the roof that way. That seems to be the way i wanna go i was just curious of where to run the wire for the antenna from and how to do it like that. Any pics or comments would be very helpful thanks!

Well if its anything like the antenna for the sirius one then I can help.

I ran it out my driver side door to the roof. Your probably thinking it looks dumb but you cant even notice it. Just rap some electrical tape were the door would close on it and its good. I've had it like that for over a year and its still like that. If you ask me it will be a lot easier to put in like that then out the third brake light.

when i got my truck about a year ago it has a antenna mounted at the third brake light. Sorry can not say how hard it was to install, but not bad to remove. Just cut one end off and pull from the other.

As a heads up, were the magnetic antenna was mounted is now scratched like crazy. Not sure is it was from the wind or car washes.

Get a metal coat hanger and use that to push the wire from the door area to the third brake light. The antenna that was in my truck ran from the center console to the driver side door seal, up the rear door seal and to the brake light. There should be run between the head liner and sheet metal.

where my antenna runs is the antenna on the roof, through the 3rd brake light above the headliner, down the passenger B? pillar betwwen the door and the extended cab window, from there you can run it along the edge trim where the door meets the cab into the dash or the way i have it, my xm reciever box is under the passenger seat, so it was run under the carpet straight to the reciever

I have a 2004 Quad cab and mounted it on the overhead console group. Its out of the way and you dont see any wires. I was going to go through the 3rd break light but I was afraid there would be a water leak or pinch the wire too much so I went out the drivers door up over the doors hidden behind the door seals then around the back. The only spot you can see the wire is where it comes out of the rear window groove and goes over the 3rd light. I am not sure if this is exactly where I want it but thats where it is now. I am working on the best reception now. (FM or direct)
