Hello,

My girlfriend's intrepid's blower fan seems to have just quit working this morning.  Of course it has to pick a nice COLD day to do this.  She says she can feel a little bit of heat when her hand is in contact with one of the vents, but the blower is not blowing any air through...no matter what speed she has the fan turned up.  Any ideas?

I think this may be related to a problem she's been having for a better part of a year or so.  Intermittently when she had the fan on for heat or AC, there was a noise coming from the dash..like a low-high pitched hum or whine.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like it needs a new blower motor. The whine was probably it's death rattle.

Thanks!

That's what I was thinking.  A couple of other people had told me to check the fuse first.  While that may be true, I think the fan was definitely on the way out, so that is going to need replacement anyway.

Any ideas on how easy this is to do that '95 Intrepid?  Also, I've never replaced one of these before...does the fan and motor usually come as an assembly together?

You might also want to check to see if there is a blower motor resistor on the car. I recently just had the same problem on my Dynasty, and it ended up the blower motor went out with the blower motor resistor. Replaced both, and the heat worked again.

Just some food for thought.

I bought a new heater core to put in my Shelby Z, then I found out where it was and went with Aluma Seal. I still haven't changed it. Most newer cars are evil with the location these things, up under the dash behind everything. My Roadrunners heater is in almost plain sight under the dash on the passenger side, great easy access.

It's probably an assembly, but could be seperate. Either way you only need the motor, and as 90dynasty said you may also need the resistor.

Thanks guys,

I'm gonna try and replace the blower motor first this weekend and check the fuse as well.  If it's still a no go..then I would think resistor as well.
