Flowmaster 50 HD for me. I'm happy with it. MDS is a little annoying, but that seems to be the norm with any aftermarket exhaust on an MDS engine... Interior Sound Exterior Sound

I myself am in the market for an aftermarket exhaust. I have a question for all flowmaster owners. I have read in other places and forums that some people have complained about loss of power after installing flowmasters, especially the 50 series. Is there any truth to this problem? I had planned on a flowmaster 50 single outlet this spring. If that is the case then maybe i should consider magnaflow or another. Please help answer this delema.

Casper...there are plenty of better flowing mufflers out there. The Flowmater is NOT one of the best flowing mufflers, it is usually installed because people like the sound. I got tired of the metalic sound the dern things make, but some people like it.

The sound is a good thing, but performance is prime importance. I dont want it too loud. What would be some to consider then instead of the flowmaster?

ORIGINAL: SeVeReDiStOrTiOn I just have the magnaflow muffler (otherwise stock catback) and it sounds and flows great. I love the fact that you can see through it from one end to the other. Absolutly.... Great sound... Good tone... Just a tad too quiet... but I can deal with it.. better then stock...

I installed a flowmaster on my 02 and wasn't really impressed with the sound to much. There definately was no performance enhancement, so I'll go with the ever popular magnaflow.

I would just like to state that a single in, dual out magnaflow with echo tips sounds amazing. It's perfect. Even with MDS on. When it's in the V4 mode, it has a nice deep burbble, all the way through about 2,500 rpm and then after 4,000 rpm it just starts to wail real nice. The magnaflow basically amplifys what your truck sounds like stock, so it doesn't sound too altered or silly. The Flowmasters are most definitely louder than the Magnaflows though.

The Flowmasters do not sound good with the MDS in 4 cylinder mode. The Magnaflow does, but it's quieter. If you're looking for any sort of performance gain, then don't get a Flowmaster.
