just for comparison purposes the charger srt8 starts at $39,130 magnum srt8 starts at $38,780 300 Srt8 starts at $44,360 grand cherokee srt8 starts at $41,420 under 38k is actually very resonable.

You're right it is. The Challenger is quite a premium car and has the potential to rival cars that are far more expensive, but it is not only priced a lot less than those models are it is priced nicely even for an SRT-8. Don't give up, dusty. I'm sure the R/T will be more afforable and whether or not it has an engine update, it'll be plenty fast.

According to the attached ad, the MSRP is actually $40,095.... which reflects the 37,995 figure PLUS the mandatory $2100 gas guzzler tax. Thumbnail Image

It comes in around where I had thought (though I hoped lower though). I'm sure they're trying not to move too far from the Mustang GT type guys and this still places in an easy $10k above that... Like others here, I think I'll wait a bit for the hype to die down and some of the rumored "specialty versions" (like Vanishing Point) ones to show up. I did stop by a dealer this a.m. and they knew nothing about the Dec 3 start...Ugh
