Default paint estimate

I've been getting estimates to repaint the peeling paint on my hood and cab roof, mainly to stop the surface rust that has formed. So far, I have a $450 (plus materials) estimate to strip, prime and repaint the hood, windshield cowl and roof. I had another estimate for $350 but the kid's boss wouldn't let him use his Line-X shop after hours for the job. Anyone on the Kansas City area with a referral? This may turn into a DIY project if I can't get an resonable estimimate...

450 is a deal. I paid a little more than that just for my hood.

I had an estimate from Maaco for $1300 to do the whole truck, but that is worth more than the truck. I thought about leaving it as is, but I don't want that surface rust on the roof to become a year-round sunroof.

I'm seriously looking into that....there are lots of web pages with info on painting with a cheapie Harbor Freight Tools HPLV sprayer. Maybe I can get by for under $200 if I bought a DA sander, a spray guy, paint, primer andother small items I need to fix the panels myself.

I got about $400 in mine, but that is with bondo, a few coats of primer, painted the whole truck in black, taped off the stripes then sprayed two coats of the maroon cuz it was kind of transparent, followed by three coats of clear and spray in bed liner in the back. it was all dupont and spies hecker paint so i was a little more expensive than the macco paint. How that helps, any more questions just ask...
