I just bought me a dodge avenger r/t two days ago and I must say I love it. It is actually more than I expected even tho I didn't get to get it COMPLETELY loaded. I got a lot in it and it is sure to turn heads.

My question is, however,

what is the quarter mile ET on the thing?

It's crazy fast, but I just don't know how to measure 1/4 mile without going to the track, and we don't have one for 300 miles of where I live.
Everyone I know wants to see it. On the first day home my family wanted to ride in it, and a couple times I floored it and I look in the rearview mirror each time and see them bracing up... lol. The first time  did it my aunt is screaming "Stop!" and gives a face only people riding a roller coaster give, steps out of the vehicle and vomits..

it's fast, it's a big move up from the old ranger I used to have and it still makes my hair stand on end. You don't even feel like you're doing 110 or so, it just feels like you're gliding. I love it.

But, I'm taking it to race two people this weekend and it'll be the last time I put any more strain on my new ride, but one guy I'm racing has a 98 mustang with a puny v6 that somehow he hasn't been beat yet by anyone. I haven't personally measured, but they say my car has 0-60 in 7 seconds and if I'm not mistaken he says his does too. Anyone know the 1/4 mile et or who would win?

Do not worry about that 1998 V6 mustang. I have beaten them with no problem in my R/T. When I drive the R/T in manumatic I can get to 60 from a dead stop in 6.8 seconds. I use a G tech perfomance monitor, and that is what is states.  If you have the AWD like I do make sure to hit the ESP button to put it in part time mode. With the AWD in full time mode, your 0-60 time be in the 7 to 7.3 second range.

Yup, just push the ESP button and punch it... the tires give a quick chirp and then the car pulls like hell.

I'm quite pleased with the acceleration of the Avenger. I had an SRT4 and I was nervous about going to an R/T AWD for fear it would be too slow, but the Avenger does not disappoint.

You still have plenty of muscle to show up those jerk offs who try to race ahead to cut you off at a stop light... gets 'em every time when they don't think you're very fast and then you haul ass right past them.

I'm going to go outside and hug my car.... excuse me.

He... was... OWNED. Not just owned but BAZZZOWNED!!(made up a new word) PWNED!! AND CRAPPED ON!!

Ford suxx0rz!

This car is a beast bottom line. Nothing more to say.

B335T!

even raced a few trucks that bragged about their v8s, but still, they're stupid. If I just beat a car with a manual, what makes them think they're going to beat me in a truck with an automatic? Who cares what the hp is...

454... owned

After EDIT:

and I got to thinking tho.. about that race... the Stang was so owned, that UBER nerds and 1337 speekers need to make a new word for what happened.

He was so owned that...

everyone including the spectators decided that we were all going to take a massive dump on the mustang, grab squeejee's and rub it in all over the car and make it look like crap and smell like it too, beat it with a sledgehammer, run over it with a monster truck, light the gas puddle leak that was created on fire and peacefully happily and slowly one evening watch the car as it was set aflame under a beautiful sunset roasting marshmallows over it and hot dogs, getting drunk, sharing stories, playing "jump over the fire" with the car, then went to the clubs, jiggallated, got in my car with LEDS, listening to the techno music on my SAT radio, passing up and racing every car on the way home, owning them like a bat out of hell making every other driver we met along the way cry and want to go home and junk their cars and cut themselves and get a dodge avenger, for their only life they ever had, their cars, had been beaten then we went home threw another party got drunk again and all took photos of us in front  of the flaming mustang in my front yard smiling so it could go on our myspaces, and to this day it still sits there as a memorial.

I will call that new Word "Yaaaooowwneed!"

meaning everything I typed above...

I debated responding to this post for a couple days - every time I come here it makes me mad...

There is such a thing as being a gracious winner, and you have failed.

Really now?

Your stock V6 beat another vehicle. So you are therefor supperior. I understand now, but do you? Acceleration and racing isnt just about horsepower. Someone will likely be more technical than me, but you have failed to mention any torque measurements, where their optimal torque lies, the power to weight ratio in comparasin with your car. You take those trucks and put them into a hauling or a climbing contest versus your car (I have an avenger RT as well), and you will find that it superceeds you. I am not sure how they were bragging - but your certainly are no better.

*claps slowly* Very good... so because your car, was able to beat a mustang you are therefor better, and deserve to define a new word - that involves taking a shit on someone elses car? I am sorry but that bothers me. I am as proud as the next guy - and love squashing a punk kid that is reving at a light, but I am not for trash talking and BS like you have spewed.

Hmmm... I'm not even really sure what to say to this thread other than... grow up.

I understand you're proud that you beat a mustang (but come on... that's not hard to do) but to go to the length you have to say the childish things you've said is just ridiculous and makes you look pretty immature.

I love my Avenger R/T as much as the next guy, maybe more... but it is not the fastest car out there by FAR... so be careful calling it a 'BEAST' and all that other stuff. I traded in my 2004 SRT-4 for this car and it would have eaten it for breakfast and 'crapped it out' as you say... but that is not why you buy an Avenger.

The Avenger is not a racecar, but it is definitely no pushover.. the V6 packs plenty of punch to handle any situation you may find yourself in... I bought the car because it is a more grown up vehicle with tons of comfort features and great value. It is also a car that is very suitable to winter driving (AWD) and family life.

It appears that maybe if this post is reflective of your personality or maturity level, you may have purchased the wrong vehicle.

My $0.02

Try not to be too hard on him just because he has a speech impediment.. :) (Actually I used to talk/type a little like that about 15 years ago) might just be a generational gap kinda thing :)

So since I understand the wannabe leet speek, am immature for my age, and also recently received enjoyment from beating a Mustang GT I'll try to translate :)

I think what he is trying to say is that he has all these friends that are always bragging about how fast their car is.. then he goes out and buys a car that was primarily designed for 25-40 year old young professionals with families so out of the box you would expect the Avenger to be beaten by everything out there in a race.. but then when you start racing people.. and winning.. the shock and surprise of what the Avenger is capable of brings you to an elated state of satisfaction which makes you lose control of your bodily functions and the natural reaction is to pull down your pants and aim for the fallen competition.

lol Sorry I can't help being a wise ass sometimes..
