I have been thinking about replacing my exhaust for a while for something with a deeper sound then I thought that a cutout might be an easier / better idea while still maintaining the stock exhaust and possibly avoiding any anal Dodge dealers that may claim that the exhaust has been modified so they won't honor my waranty. (Provided they dont look under the car) :)

I remember manual cable driven cutouts back in the day but I found an electrical cutout that would probably be more reliable with less chance of exhaust leaks..

Think im gonna go this route instead of getting a whole new muffler system..

cut outs are bad on modern cars .... they eliminate the back pressure ... car won't run properly

Should be fine after the cat.. worst case scenario I can bolt on a muffler on it, not open it all the way, or tape a kitten to the end :)

Actually I am planning on putting a muffler on it but I would like to go from loud to quiet.. Not to mention I'm sure a 6 cylinder would sound like crap without a muffler.

We had a guy do straight lake pipes down the side after the cats ... when he engaged lost all the top end speed and torque ...

How about adding something like a round bullet muffler after the cutout or do you think something with actual baffles would be better like a flowmaster 2 chamber?

Not sure he had no room to add due to body/structural component ... There really isn't much room unless it hangs down and looks like poop ...

I'll just add it to my list of things to change on the car and keep you updated when I get to it.. :)

Im beginning to wonder if I bought the correct car because I'm changing so many things that im not happy with that I think I should have just bought something else :) Unfortunately I dont like the way any other 2008 cars look and at the time of purchase the 2008 Charger SRT8 wasnt available.. the 2007 was.. which would have been my second choice but the 2007 Charger was lacking so many interior features as compared with the 2008 Avenger that I went with the Avenger.. MyGIG was one of those missing options that makes the Avenger so enjoyable..

But I guess I will reach a point where I will be content.. hope the car doesnt look like crap when im done changing everything :) So far everything I have changed looks good and professional..

Go get a flowmaster muffler from the an auto parts store.  Have it clamped on to the exhaust system in case you don't like it.  If all you want is sound then just get a different muffler.  With install it's probably only going to cost you $100.
