i picked up a 130k 87 shelby daytona z turbo 2, it has new tires and the only rust holes are the size of a quarter on the floor pans. all for 300$ i have an aftermarket tubular exhaust manifold from an 87 GLH charger i so regretfully gave away (everything was broke) and an aftermarket computer ( mopar performance), the computer is installed, the manifold has yet to be, what does the computer on these control anyways? it has a vaccume leak, i found the one near the wastgate solinoid (ya it pegged the guage) and now its fixed, but i still have a vaccume leak, when driving i can hear it from in the drivers conpartment, but as soon as boost happens it goes away max is 7psi, the car will only peel out if i dump the clutch hard and then its just a skwak, its kinda gutless. and what can i do to prevent this car from breaking/stripping axles? i'v heard they are notorious for this. Center your engine. That will help with the broken axles. I have yet to break an axle on my RT with a properly centered engine and solid motor mounts. Also, if you are wheel hopping on take off, that will do it. Wheel hop has broken more axles than hard launches at the track with slicks EVER will! 87' Shelby Z's have a really nice stock computer in them, you should be right around 13-14 psi stock. I would check your wastegate vac lines and go from there.
