Default Engine bay cover on caliber sxt

Got a 07 SXT with no plastic shroud over the top of the engine, it was built in May. Earlier 07 with the
2.0L engine had the cover, dealer say's they only put the engine shroud on the 2.4L engine now. Anyone
know why they stopped, was there a problem or is this just cost cutting again.

Default RE: Engine bay cover on caliber sxt

Strictly cost cutting measure as far as I can see,I have driven with the cover
for over a year and have not had a problem.
Several posts claim the engine runs cooler without the cover which is ok
for summer driving but could cause slower warm ups to op temps
in colder climates.
I believe it can be ordered from parts for $30-$40.00 as some
posters have indicated.

I was originaly going to get a silver caliber, but then i saw the red one that i bought sitting next to it. mine was built in may 07 too. the silver one was i guess, an earlier 07. it had the shroud. they just took it off of the silver one and put it on mine. 6, 1, half a dozen, the other...it wont make a huge difference.
