I just recently blew out the head gasket on my 1991 daytona with the mitsu v6. I looked into pricing for getting it redone and was told $2100 for both head gaskets, and got a quote for $2700 from Jasper for a reman. Figure cost of installation of the engine vs the possibility of weak rings causing the motor to smoke, it'd just be better to get a reman

Curious as to people's thoughts on Jasper, I had heard they bore everything out to the max and didn't want some half-ass engine. I have read a few good things about ATK remanufacturers, including customer letters.

Any suggestions?

hey, I can get you a remain engine from Chrysler, with a 3yr, 80,000 mile warranty, for $2850.00.  You can keep your core.  And depending on where you live, I may be able to get that delivered to a repair shop or your work place at no extra charge.

Dang thats expensive for head gaskets. Was that quote just to fix the head gasket or was it for an entire overhaul.

Forgive me but I am a little ignorant on the V6. The 2.5, I can switch out HG in a half a day blindfolded. Is it that much more aggrivating? The only other V6 I have any extensive experience with are 3100 and 3800 GM. I still would not charge $2100 for HGs. That seems like railroading to me. DAMN.

Any thoughts would be appriciated because I know where a 1991 v6 is sitting. Guy wants $400 for it. (hasn't cranked in 7 years) I am thinking of getting it just for parts or getting it running.

It'd be great to get a chrysler reman, I live about 5 miles outside of philadelphia in NJ, how would that work for you? Still looking at options too, not really set on what I want to do. I have heard that just doing the head gaskets could cause it to smoke (increased cylinder compression blowing past worn rings which means more oil left on the walls when combustion takes place).

It was $2100 for both head gaskets and a valve job apparently
