Hi guys, new here and got a question. The AC/Heater fan quit the other morning. Over the last couple of years I have hade an intermittent ticking noise as if something was hitting the fan blades. It came and went and other than being annoying it didn't affect performance. I also had some trouble with the switch that it would turn the fan off when I put it on high. Several months ago that stopped and the fan has worked normally except for the occasional ticking. Now the fan has quit all together, several times while operating the switch since it quit I've heard that ticking noise for less than one second, it would tick very quietly 3 or 4 times and then nothing. I've read something about a resistor that may be a problem. Does anyone have any advice.
Thanks,
Travis

You may have a blown resistor pack. Fairly common on these trucks. Located in the engine bay, passenger side, on the firewall. Two screws hold it in, and has a cable connected to it. About 5 spade connectors on it I think. If you pull it out and it is corroded you will need a new one. About $15-20 at the dealer.

Don't forget to check out the blower switch as well ... I have a '94 that had the same problem (would work and then not), turns out I just wore out my switch.

If the blower motor resistor was bad you would still have the "High" position.
Turn the fan on "High" and check for 12.6 volts across the fan leads. If ya got 12.6v or higher (within reason), the blower motor is bad.
