Demonatrix

Imagine a modern-day The Fast and the Furious rematch featuring this Plum Crazy Pearl-colored Challenger Demon (sans supercharger blower) up against the latest Toyota Supra.  Throw in a torque wheelie on the Challenger, complete with a dramatic finish to a quarter-mile drag, and you have a blockbuster remake in the works!  With just under 500 miles on the odometer, this Demon was listed with a starting bid over 15% MSRP on Bring a Trailer.  Is the power and looks worth the price tag?

Numbers Game

This low-mile Demon features Dodge's 6.2-liter HEMI V8.  Attached to the HEMI is a 2.7-liter supercharger.  As one of the most powerful production V8s on the market, Demon throws down a whopping 840 horsepower; 770 lb-ft of torque. Weighing in at 4,280 lbs, the Demon is motivated from 0-60 in 2.3 seconds thanks to its 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission with a higher stall speed torque converter and 3.09:1 rear-end gearing.  A two-step ignition timing pre-fills the supercharger with eight pounds of boost during staging, and lets the car achieve the full 14.5 pounds of boost within six feet of a drag strip run. A factory trans brake, torque reserve system, and strengthened driveline maximizes launch efficacy.

Cooling System

In addition to the black satin air-grabber hood, additional cooling is supplied courtesy of the largest cool-air induction system and the only air-conditioner-powered charge-air cooler fitted to a production car.  This system helps drop intake temps by more than 45 degrees Fahrenheit.

Number 2,724

Inside this Demon, you'll find a plethora of factory options including an 18-speaker Harman/Kardon sound system, heated and ventilated front seats,  rear seat (optional), and a black satin hood.  The interior is trimmed in black leather and Alcantara inserts featuring embossed Demon logos on the seatbacks of both the front and rear seating.  Other factory amenities include a heated steering wheel and Uconnect infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.  A badge above the glovebox and the included Certicard indicate this car was the 2,724th Dodge Challenger Demon produced.

Radials

Wider bodywork was introduced to the Demon to accommodate the 18×11″ 5-spoke wheels and the 315/40 Nitto NT05R drag radials fitted to all four corners.  A protective yellow plastic remains on the front splitter and a decklid spoiler round off the dragster appearance.

"WHAT'S IN THE BOX?!"

I couldn't help but think of Brad Pitt screaming this in the movie Se7en when reading this Demon comes with an unopened Crate option.  Demon owners could purchase the Crate option for just $1 (on top of the $83,295 MSRP...).  Inside, the Crate contains a slew of goodies, including a hydraulic floor jack with carrying bag, cordless impact wrench with charger, torque wrench, a tire-pressure gauge, fender cover, tool bag, and a foam case that fits into the trunk and securely holds the front runners.  In addition to the tools (courtesy of Snap-On), the Crate contains additional parts including performance powertrain control module with high-octane engine calibration, replacement switch module containing a high-octane button, conical performance air filter, passenger mirror block-off plate, and front-runner drag wheels.

FInal Word

The limited production run, factory options, and low miles on this Demon should justify its above MSRP price tag.  It's a modern era, OEM, production drag racer!  If that doesn't excite you, you're probably the Supra in the quarter-mile scenario...
