Another chance to purchase

This Viper was put together over 10 years ago for the 2006 Detroit Auto Show by American Specialty Cars. The design of the car is a nod to the Can-Am cars of the 1960s. The NA V10 engine has been tuned by McLaren Performance Tech and with trumpet air intakes, each with their own port throttle now puts out 615 horsepower. However, there is another bullet point to this car that makes it stand head and shoulders above other Vipers: it only has 74 miles on the odometer.

Setting the stage

Rewinding back to 2006, Chrysler was still doing business with Daimler, who owns Mercedes-Benz, which was venturing with McLaren in Formula 1 as well as to produce the SLR supercar. This is actually the second time that the car is listed for sale since the last time in 2009 for the same price as now. It has only racked up 55 miles more in those nine years since the sale.

Pretty sweet mods

The roof, rocker panels, bumpers, and rear patch have all been replaced with carbon fiber pieces as well as the hood. McLaren left their mark on the vehicle with a plate on the engine block and a subtle orange line tracing the hood opening. The 0-60 time on the model has been improved to just 3.5 seconds. Other changes to the Viper are 19-inch forged three-spoke custom wheels in grey mesh, stainless steel quad exhaust and a lowered ride height of 1.25 inches.

If you got the change laying around...

The ASC Diamondback Viper project cost $750,000 to create back in the mid-2000s which makes the going price being offered quite the steal at $295,000. A dealership by the name of American Supercars in Fresno, California is handling the sale of the rare supercar.

Would you buy it?

With a price tag that's $300K, the car isn't cheap for regular folks but still, it is no ordinary Viper and quite special as the car is no longer in production. However, according to Car and Driver, the Viper will be returning to dealers in 2021 with extensive changes but that remains to be confirmed by Dodge brass.
