Default engine miss at idle (tsb 09-007-06)

Hello all!
i just joined with a 06 dakota 3.7L with a rough idle and a blinking cel(sometimes). i did some research and found the above tsb replacing valve locks and intake valves. (the old locks are not allowing the valve to rotate and burning it), 05-06 3.7L only.

Does any body have experience with this tsb? i am still under warranty and just dropped it off at the dealer trying to get them to cover it. Do you all think i will have a fight on my hands monday, when the dealer calls me back? or what can i do to help the situation?
thank!
Mike

p.s also i did a search and came up with alot of rough idle stuff, but none mentioned this tsb which came out on 8-19-2006 for vin code K.

depending on the mileage they may not cover it. the 06 and up only came with the 3/36, where as the 05 has the 7/70 warrenty. not familiar with the 3.7 but a lot of the trouble with the 4.7 were stuck open egr valve or just incorrect spark plug gap

thanks for reply! it has 25,000 miles on it and the warranty is up in december. the only thing i have done to it is put new plugs in it. same rough idle before and after the plugs. thats when i found the above tsb.

the tsb is pretty specific of five or more misfires at idle counted by the drb2 scan tool. check engine light may or may not be on according to the tsb. but mine was blinking wednesday indicating a hard misfire in one of the cylinders. hope the pcm recorded it! it definately has a miss at low idle (500) that can be heard in the exhaust.

there sure is lots of info in the search about this but no mention of this tsb?

it is v-6 specific. i was thinking maybe alot of the rough idles in the 4.7L could be caused by the same problem? but i don't see in my searching of any of these rough idles in the 3.7 or the 4.7 needing valve jobs. maybe the problem stabilizes, before one is needed? who knows? mike

Yeah I never heard of the TSB. I have a 2006 with the 3.7L V6. The idle was never smooth smooth. It improved when I changed my plugs and gapped them correctly. The originals were pretty well worn at 30k miles.

Never a blinking cel tho, this is the first time i have heard about anything like this.

If your under warranty and theres a TSB they are definately going to cover it. Even if there was'nt a TSB and your under warranty they are going to cover it, no worries.

SURPRISE! they won't even say if the tsb applies (when asked in 2 different phone calls)! they want to put plugs in it again! and clean the throttle body (at my expense). so i authorized it. i guess i got to play their games first? mike

Takes notes and hold on to everything you receive from them. Just build a case against them, if you have to you'll have proof that they are dipsheits and should have listened to you in the first place

Whoa whoa whoa. Why on earth did you agree to pay? Your truck is under warranty, and it has a problem. Period. It should be covered. It doesnt matter if your comming up on a tune up and plugs are part of that. This is a problem that doesnt happen from plugs with 25,000 miles on them.

I wouldnt pay a dime.

If they want to make the choice of trying new plugs, that should'nt cost you money. It's there job to diagnose the problem, and fix it, under warranty, at no cost to you. If this means they want to replace the plugs, you should not pay a dime.

I already don't like your dealer's service department.

You say plugs "again"? They did this once already? Just bring them in the TSB that you found online. Why would they try more spark plugs? It can be a number of things that they did not try.
