The Mopar display was hard to miss at the SEMA Show, and the handful of dressed up and built up Challengers may have made this one easy to miss. Near the back corner sat the 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T named "Freda". This model was referred to by a Dodge press release as the Challenger Blacktop, and it is the work of the Mopar Underground design team.There has been no power estimate made, but the 5.7L Hemi engine has been improved upon by adding a cold air intake and set of headers, flowing through a Mopar exhaust system.
A Mopar coil-over suspension setup, coupled with a Mopar strut tower
brace help to keep the massive Dodge Viper-style 22" wheels planted
snug to the pavement. The aerodynamics and aesthetics have been
enhanced via a custom front fascia and spoiler, along with the black on
black paint and striping. On the inside, the Dodge Challenger Blacktop
features Katzkin leather interior trim, and a premium Mopar/Kicker
audio system.The Blacktop Challenger was a project between a handful of Chrysler divisions, but some aspects of this model, especially the more aggressive "brow" area gives the car a more sinister look, and would make a great addition for a premium trimline.
